Treatment systems for SUD can be hard to navigate. No matter what level of care you or a loved one need, we’ll help you find the right course of treatment in Amarillo.
Substance use disorder is diagnosed using the DSM-V, a diagnostic manual for mental health professionals. Patients must meet two or more of the eleven criteria to be reliably diagnosed. A person meeting 2-3 criteria is considered to have a mild SUD; 4-5 criteria is considered a moderate SUD; 6+ is considered severe.
The treatment recommendations for SUD are based on the severity of the disorder. There are multiple levels of care ranging from outpatient counseling once per week, to intensive outpatient treatment, which consists of 12-16 hours of counseling per week.
Most often severe cases require inpatient care followed by many months of supportive housing. Currently, Recovatry is well-suited for mild to moderate cases of SUD given that we’re equipped to provided counseling once per week. We utilize motivational interviewing (MI) and motivational enhancement therapy (MET) at our office when supporting people recovering from SUD.
In any case, if you or a loved one suffers from SUD and doesn’t know where to turn, feel free to start with us and we’ll get you pointed in the right direction.
